Max B has signed with Cara Lewis Group for representation, marking a fresh return to the entertainment industry after spending 16 years behind bars.
The Harlem rapper and singer will be repped by agents Ashley Ventura and Cara Lewis, and will continue to be managed by Karen Civil.
He joins a roster at CLG that includes fellow rappers such as French Montana, Travis Scott, and Ice Spice.
The news comes after the artist, born Charley Wingate, was officially released from prison on November 9 following a lengthy sentence for his involvement in an armed robbery gone wrong that resulted in a man’s death.
After his arrest in 2007 on charges of manslaughter and armed robbery, the rap star was handed a 75-year sentence upon being convicted in 2009, which was reduced to 20 years over a conflict of interest and a guilty plea of aggravated manslaughter.
Known for popularising the term “wavy”, the NYC native rose to prominence with his Million Dollar Baby and Public Domain mixtape series, finding hits in “Why You Do That”, “Picture Me Rollin’” and “Sexy Love”.
Max B continued to make music while he was incarcerated, releasing the album “Vigilante Season” in 2011 and 2019’s “Coke Wave 4” mixtape with French Montana.
The 47-year-old also featured on Kanye West’s The Life Of Pablo interlude “Siiiiiiiiilver Surffffeeeeer Intermission” and Wiz Khalifa’s “Max B Interlude” from this year’s Kush + Orange Juice 2.
The newly released rapper has shared plans for a run of North American shows in New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, and previously outlined his intentions to dive “head first” back into new music.
Max B confirmed his reduced sentence and imminent release date last year. According to a letter shared on his social media, he will remain on parole for five years.
