Conner O’Malley Signs with WME for Representation

10/15/24 5:35PM

Comedian, writer, and actor Conner O’Malley has signed with WME for representation, marking a significant new step in his already thriving career. O’Malley continues to be managed by Rise Management, as he builds on his cult following in the comedy world through his unique, offbeat style.

Career Highlights: O’Malley first gained widespread attention on the now-defunct platform Vine in the early 2010s, where he developed a reputation for his wild, unhinged characters that satirize the money-obsessed, paranoid, and delusional elements of American masculinity. His quick-hit Vine videos often featured him confronting strangers in suits or expensive cars, praising them in absurd, Adam Sandler-esque tones with lines like, “Money is a game and you’re the winner.” These surreal, often bizarre character sketches helped him gain a cult following.

Following his success on Vine, O’Malley expanded his comedic repertoire across YouTube and television. He landed his big break as a writer for Late Night with Seth Meyers, where he also performed, often playing deranged, Chris Elliott-like characters who raged against the world in absurd fits of misplaced anger. O’Malley’s comedic gift for portraying unglued, paranoid personalities quickly became his trademark.

In addition to his work on Late Night with Seth Meyers, O’Malley has written for How To with John Wilson and appeared in Joe Pera Talks With You, where his loud, chaotic energy provided a stark contrast to Joe Pera’s quiet and sensible demeanor. He has also acted in shows like Broad City alongside his wife, comedian Aidy Bryant, and Louie, where he played a younger version of Louis C.K.

O’Malley’s unique brand of humor has earned him a reputation as a cult hero in the comedy world, with his surreal, often satirical character work poking fun at the more absurd aspects of American culture. His characters range from a conspiracy theorist arguing that Shrek is real to a moody loner wandering through an empty Times Square during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Recognition and Future Work: O’Malley’s style of humor has earned praise from critics, with Splitsider’s Megh Wright naming him “the new king of weird” in 2016. His work is a mix of satire, absurdity, and biting social commentary, making him a favorite among fans of alternative comedy.

With representation from WME, Conner O’Malley is poised to continue expanding his influence in the world of comedy, both through his signature character work and his writing, as he continues to explore and satirize the quirks and contradictions of American life.
